On 13th April, I spun out Deal Lite from Techcelerate as a new legal entity.
We started our journey in May 2018 when I decided to track what's happening in the UK tech investment landscape.
Our first activity was just a spreadsheet.
Then in Jan 2019, we launched UK Investment News. We have published 3,554 stories of UK tech companies raising investment since then.
In April 2019, we built a few Apps on the Livestax framework owned by Construction Software Market Leader Causeway Technologies.
We didn't do anything with Deal Lite web app after this initial build for a long time. We continued to build the Press Release site. Later, we introduced a Tech M&A press release site, UK Tech Exits.
In 2020, with the help of a tiny bounce-back loan, I took on staff to focus more on the Press Release sites. After I launched SkilledUp Life in August 2020, we managed to add several Volunteers to our team and strengthen it.
As Deal Lite was built on Causeway Technologies IP, it did not make sense to spin out. After months (or perhaps years) of discussion, we finally got access to the code base.
Over the years, Deal Lite has captured 4,159 UK tech companies raising investment from 5,439 investors through 6,181 funding rounds.
It finally felt like the right time to spin Deal Lite out from Techcelerate.
It would be a great honour if you wish to support us by subscribing to Deal Lite web app.
At Deal Lite, our positioning is simple:
Deal Lite is a lead generation alerting service (with data) based on successful fundraising activities by UK Tech Companies.
You could use it to be:
Informed of what’s happening in the UK tech investment landscape.
Find venture backed tech companies to promote your products and services.
Find investors for your next round based on sector, stage and what they have invested in.
Analyse your competitors, if you are building a tech company.
Deal Lite as the name suggests is a lightweight solution. We never plan to build Deal Lite into a comprehensive data solution. We want to co-exist in our competitive landscape rather than try to go head-to-head with venture-backed data players. However, the User Interface framework gives us the ability to bring amazing benefits.
We are also interested in understanding how we should develop Deal Lite further. If you have any suggestions, please share them with me directly.
Best regards
Manoj and the team
